Artist :Cover Up Casual Album: The Come Up

It's Friday! I thought I would do a completely unknown artist. Which is the main focus of this blog. Until I start gaining a bigger audience and more unknown or unsigned bands start asking me to review their album, I will do 100% new and upcoming artists a few times here and there. Here is the first Backstage Spotlight. Behind the curtain awaits a new artist to emerge. Let's flip on that Spotlight Backstage on this artist For Friday's album review, I review Cover Up Casual's The Come Up
Formed in late 2010 in Christopher Rossi's bedroom as a way to write acoustic songs about his experiences in Life. Opening up around the local Antelope Valley coffeeshop and houseshow circuits in early 2012, He released his Debut Ep "The Come Up." produced by Ric Ilejay in late January 2013.

I've had a chance to hang out with Chris here and there. He is a VERY talented drummer. I mean holy crap. He sounds like a machine. Little did I know he was working on this album. When I heard it the first time, I actually thought he was sharing a friend's album. I had no idea it was HIM until he asked what I thought of the album. To be brutally honest. Yes, it has a low quality feel to it. It's grainy. It's rough. BUT IT WORKS. It brings me back to cutting demos and listening to music raw and un edited. Not all dolled up with effects and autotune. Chris' voice actually really reminds me of early an version of Shabutie, (the band name of  Coheed and Cambria before the name change). I hear young Claudio Sanchez in Chris' voice and at other times, he really reminded me of Johnny Craig.  I know if he keeps working on it, he will continue to grow and get even better than I think he is. Be sure to check out this up and coming aritst. Cover Up Casual. Go to bandcamp.com and find his 4 track EP on there.

Three and a half Spotlights out of Five. Go and listen to this album.

Song to look for: "Speak Your Dreams"

This concludes my review for Cover Up Casual's The Come Up

Have a great weekend everyone! See ya Monday with a new week and a new album. Since this was sort of an Indie week, I'm feeling metal next? Sounds good.
