Band: Small Black Album: Limits of Desire
Really quickly! I want to thank my brother Cory for telling me about this one. His music taste is very much so this style. He game me a mix of a few great bands I'll for sure be telling you about in the near future, don't you worry.
Band Bio:
Small Black have announced that they will release their new album, Limits of Desire on May 14, 2013 via Jagjaguwar. Small Black formed in 2009 in Brooklyn, New York. Members consist of Ryan Heyner, Josh Hayden Kolenik, Juan Pieczanski, and Jeff Curtin.
The cover of the album, shot by Dutch artist Scarlett Hooft Graafland, serves as as sort of visual source code for its themes. Featuring a man and a woman embracing on either side of a ladder, the two are completely naked, divided by its triangular span - close but unable to get any closer. It is a moving depiction of modern connectivity and interaction.
I really could not find too much information on the band. Only that they are pretty darn good at what they do.

Album Review:
The first thing I noticed with this album is that there was a gradual build in music. It started off very chill and very relaxed. Then it builds in each song and just grows. It very synth and light drumming filled with pretty chilling vocals. If you are in a mood for calming relaxing music. This is a great idea. Go check out the songs, "No Stranger," "Canoe," and my album favorites, "Proper Spirit" and "Breathless." I really don't have much to say because I put them on as I am typing this and I'm in the most relaxed mood, so much so, I can't type any further. But really, give this one a chance if you like slow, calming jams; with great instrumentals. I give this album Three and a Half Spotlights.
